Your Department
The Center for Education Advocacy (CEA) operates at the intersection of Jewish advocacy and educational transformation, working to create inclusive K-12 and higher education spaces that are resilient against antisemitism. The Center focuses on three key areas: higher education and campus affairs, K-12 education and leadership development, and education policy and legislative advocacy. Using research-based approaches and long-term partnerships with administrators, faculty, students, and parents, the CEA develops policies and programs that strengthen both Jewish inclusion and democratic values in American education.
Your Impact This position makes an impact at AJC by supporting CEA’s education policy, government advocacy, research, materials development, and regional guidance work.
The Associate Director supports the Director, Education Policy by providing day-to-day capacity for policy research, government advocacy tracking, issue monitoring, briefings, internal guidance, practical resources, and regional implementation support.
Your Role
Education Policy and Government Advocacy Support
- Monitor education policy developments, government activity, and relevant public debates affecting Jewish students, school climate, antisemitism, Israel-related discourse, and inclusive educational environments.
- Track legislative, executive, and administrative developments at the local, state, and federal levels and identify implications for AJC’s education advocacy work.
- Conduct research and analysis to support CEA’s education policy, government advocacy, and national K-12 strategy priorities.
- Prepare briefings, backgrounders, summaries, public comments, testimony support, and decision materials for CEA leadership, regional offices, DPPA, Legal, and other internal partners.
- Support the Director, Education Policy in preparing for, tracking, documenting, and following up on engagement with government officials, policymakers, education-policy experts, and education-sector leaders.
Regional Guidance and Implementation Support
- Support regional offices by developing policy guidance, talking points, issue briefs, advocacy materials, and school-climate resources connected to education policy and government advocacy priorities.
- Help translate national priorities into practical resources and implementation plans for regional engagement.
- Coordinate with CEA colleagues working on independent schools, student and faculty engagement, educational resources, campus affairs, parent and community engagement, and regional work to ensure policy and advocacy materials are aligned.
- Maintain systems for tracking regional needs, policy requests, government advocacy opportunities, deliverables, deadlines, and follow-up.
Materials Development and Cross-Departmental Coordination
- Draft, edit, and maintain policy materials, government advocacy resources, internal guidance, external-facing resources, and briefing documents.'
- Partner with Communications, DPPA, Community Engagement, Campus Affairs, Development, Operations and Impact, Legal, and regional offices as needed.
- Support preparation for meetings, briefings, webinars, convenings, donor updates, and internal planning connected to education policy and government advocacy.
- Help ensure materials are accurate, clear, timely, aligned with AJC positions, and usable by regional and national colleagues.
- No direct supervisory responsibility is anticipated at this time. May coordinate project-based work with regional colleagues, interns, contractors, or external partners as needed.

Education, Training, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in education, public policy, law, Jewish studies, nonprofit management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in education policy, government advocacy, public policy, Jewish advocacy, education systems, research, communications, or related work.
- Experience conducting research, drafting policy materials, supporting government advocacy efforts, and working across teams strongly preferred.

Compensation
The salary for this position is $85,000 to $105,000 depending on relevant experience and location.
